So you bought a whole quart of figs for the pizza, but only used a few. I’m not one to waste food so I decided to make some blue cheese stuffed, bacon wrapped figs for lunch. These are also a great appetizer or even dinner with a big salad.
I made these under the broiler, but for even less cleanup consider grilling these tasty little figs. Don’t worry about the cheese melting out, some cheese loss will occur. Most of it will melt over and into the fig giving off just a hint of blue cheese.
These fancy figs could even hold their own for a tailgate party. They are hearty and filling. Throw them on the grill and enjoy while they rest of the food is cooking.
- 6 figs
- 4 slices of bacon
- 2 oz blue cheese
- Preheat broiler. Slice figs in half and cut bacon into thirds.
- Top each fig slice with about ¼ tsp of blue cheese, wrap in bacon with seam side on the bottom of the fig, and place cut side up on a broiling pan. Repeat with remaining figs.
- Broil on low 10 minutes, watching to make sure bacon doesn’t burn. If the bacon doesn’t look quite done broil for an additional 2-3 minutes.

Sounds yummy ! Just don’t have figs in my pantry right now. Will have to make it sometime !
I’ve always wanted to try these. Yours look fantastic.
What an awesome combo! I really don’t get to cook with figs much but this is the perfect opportunity to use them!
