Tasty Breakfast with Müller Yogurt
Have you seen it in stores? There is a new yogurt on the shelves from Europe. Müller yogurt is available in the Northeast, Midwest, mid-Atlantic and south region so chances are pretty good that it is available somewhere near you!
Yogurt’s make easy breakfasts for us in the morning. My husband would happily eat yogurt every morning for breakfast and probably every day for lunch too.
Müller was kind enough to send me a few samples last month to try out this new product. I’m partial to Greek yogurt so I let my husband try the other flavors and kept the Greek all to myself. I loved the caramelized almond flavor. I would never have thought to put candied nuts in yogurt, but it’s such a perfect combination that now I think, why not!
Müller offers both regular and Greek-style yogurts. The regular yogurt comes in both the Corner and FrütUp, which have various mix ins such as nuts, fruits, and candies and the Greek-style are available in the Corner variety with tasty mix ins.
Müller wants to provide you, one of my readers with the chance to try their new product, by providing the winner of this giveaway with 10 full value coupons. That’s 2 work weeks of yogurt people!
To Enter the Giveaway (NOW CLOSED): You can earn up to two entries in the giveaway by doing the following:
- Mandatory – Leave me a comment telling me your go to quick breakfast.
- Optional– For an additional entry tweet about this giveaway and provide the link in a separate comment.

One Year + a Giveaway!
I’ve been leading up to it all week. Today is the day, the one year anniversary of Supper for a Steal. As a matter of fact this may be the longest job I have held. Growing up my dream was to work with food in some way, shape, or form. Now I am in my kitchen daily whipping up new treats. Cooking good, but easy food is truly what I love doing and I can’t wait to share many more recipes with you all.
To celebrate one year I am having weeklong party. And what is a party without presents. I will be giving away something that sees a lot of use in my kitchen. I could list a million things that I use weekly, but one of my favorite items is my cast iron skillet. It’s great for searing. Perfect for dishes you want to cook on the stove but finish in the oven. Cast iron is easy to clean, just a little scrubbing with some hot water and it’s done. This Lodge 12” Seasoned Cast Iron Skillet will be a great addition to your kitchen.
A few of my favorites recipes made in a cast iron skillet are Bubble Up Pizza, Homemade Tortillas, Sag Aloo, and Spinach and Feta Chicken Meatballs. But don’t stop there you can use a cast iron skillet for almost anything.
To Enter the Giveaway: You can earn up to three entries in the giveaway by doing the following:
Mandatory– Leave me a comment telling me the first thing you would make in your new skillet.
Optional – (1) For an additional entry tweet about this giveaway and provide the link in a separate comment. (2) Share this giveaway on Facebook, tag Supper for a Steal, and let me know you shared in a separate comment.
Winners will be chosen via Random.org. Contest closes March 6, 2013 at 11:59pm Eastern Time. This contest is open to US residents only.
This giveaway is sponsored by me, Lane, of Supper for a Steal. The skillet will ship to the winner directly from Amazon.
Chicken Florentine Pasta | #SundaySupper #SauteExpress & Giveaway! (Now Closed)
Have you seen the new Land O Lakes® Sauté Express® Sauté Starters in stores yet? Land O Lakes® has packed a ton of flavor into each little square helping to make weekday dinners simple. No more collecting 5 different spices, measuring, chopping, just toss a square in and let it sizzle then add your chicken, fish, or pork.
Each square contains butter, olive oil and a variety of herbs and spices and they come in four different flavors; garlic & herb (pictured above), Italian herb, savory butter & olive oil, and lemon pepper.
The Sauté Express® Sauté Starters make it easy to get dinner on the table in under 30 minutes. As part of my week of no shopping this past week I cooked up some grouper cheeks that I already had in the freezer. Dinner was quick, flavorful, and couldn’t have been easier. I’m already imagining all the different easy meals I can create.
For #SundaySupper this week I wanted to do a healthy pasta dish. Lately we haven’t been eating very much pasta. I think I overdid it on the creamy, heavy pastas and needed a break. This was the perfect recipe to ease back into pasta dinners. This Chicken Florentine Pasta is full of great ingredients and every bite tastes so fresh.
And did I mention how quick it is. Start cooking the chicken and then start the pasta. By the time the pasta is done you can toss it all together and dinner is served.
I bet you want to get your hands on the Sauté Express® Sauté Starters, so you can make all the delicious recipes the #SundaySupper crew has provided. Land O Lakes® wants you to give this great new product a try. Land O Lakes® has graciously provided me with a full value coupon to send to one of you. Good for one free product. All you have to do is see the contest rules below and enter to win.

Strawberry Shortcake #DessertsInJars + #Giveaway (Now Closed)
Every year I struggle with Christmas gifts. I like to make new and different things each year and sometimes have trouble thinking of new ideas. That was all before I discovered Desserts in Jars by Shaina Olmanson. This cookbook has an entire chapter devoted to mixes that make great Christmas gifts. Not only that, but the book itself would be an awesome gift for any baker to find under the tree.
As soon as I got my hands on the book I knew what recipe I wanted to make. Strawberry season is just beginning here in Florida. I could eat a full flat of strawberries in one sitting. I just love them so much. Not to mention homemade whipped cream is my weakness. I just had to make the strawberry shortcakes and I had to make them now.
In the past I have mainly used mason jars for freezing after bulk cooking, but after all the inspiration from the book I can’t wait to use them for individual dessert servings. As I was gobbling up these shortcakes I was thinking how cute they would be for my Christmas brunch. They need to be served soon after assembling so I could have all the individual components ready and just assemble them all in a few minutes.
Now for the good stuff, one lucky reader will win a copy of Desserts in Jars. You won’t get it in time for Christmas, but this book is great year round, think summer picnics, how convenient would individual desserts be?
To Enter the Giveaway: (Now Closed) You can earn up to two entries in the giveaway by doing the following, Mandatory – Leave me a comment telling me what dessert you would want to try in a jar. Optional – For an additional entry tweet about this giveaway and provide the link in a separate comment.
Winners will be chosen via Random.org. Contest closes December 26, 2012 at 11:59pm Eastern Time. This contest is open to US residents only.
If you want to purchase the book, Desserts in Jars, now and have an Amazon prime account be sure to order before 7 pm tonight for guaranteed delivery by Christmas.
Strawberry Shortcake
Prep time
Cook time
Total time
Author: Shaina Olmanson
Recipe type: Dessert
Serves: 6-8
Ingredients
- 4 cups strawberries, hulled and thinly sliced
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- FOR THE BISCUITS
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 3 tablespoons granulated sugar, plus more for sprinkling
- 2 tablespoons baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- Grated zest of 1 lemon
- 7 tablespoons cold unsalted butter, cut into small pieces, plus 2 tablespoons melted butter
- 1½ cups heavy cream
- FOR THE WHIPPED CREAM
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 tablespoon confectioners’ sugar
- Mint sprigs for garnish, optional
Instructions
- Put the strawberries in a bowl and sprinkle with the granulated sugar. Set aside to macerate.
- Make the biscuits: Mix together the flour, the 3 tablespoons granulated sugar, the baking powder, salt, and lemon zest in a large bowl. Add the cold butter pieces and cut into the flour until crumbly. Mix in the cream until the dough is just moistened. Press together and pat into a loose ball. Cover and refrigerate for 20 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 425ºF. To form each biscuit, gather 3 tablespoons of dough and form into a ball; each ball should be about 1 inch smaller in diameter than the jars you are using. Place the balls of dough on a parchment-paper-lined cookie sheet 2 to 3 inches apart. Brush with the melted butter and sprinkle with some granulated sugar. Bake for 9 to 10 minutes, until golden brown. Remove from the oven and allow to cool.
- Make the whipped cream: Beat the cream and confectioners’ sugar together with a handheld mixer until stiff peaks form.
- Place a biscuit flat side up in each jar. Spoon ¼ cup of the strawberries and their liquid over each biscuit, and top with the whipped cream. Place another biscuit on top, and, if you like, garnish with mint sprigs. Serve immediately.
