Another month of foodie pen pals has come and gone. This month I received a box from Katy over at Couch to 5Katy. It had so many goodies inside it was so fun to dig in. I’m still making my way through all the snacks, but I will have to say those that I have tried are delicious. Katy got me a bunch of treats from Trader Joe’s which I was really excited about because we don’t have one here.
I came so close to buying a bag of chia seeds right before I received my box, glad I held off because now I have a big bag of them. I baked up some granola recently and added a few tbsps of chia seeds. I feel healthier already
. The snapea’s were yummy too! Very salty reminded me of veggie chips.
The boysenberry fruit bar was the first thing I ate. Before I even looked through the whole package I was snacking on it. I tried a few of the almonds before letting the husband bring them to work and they reminded me of the Snyder’s honey mustard pretzels I used to love. I have never seen this flavor in my store before I will have to be on the look out. The granola bars made great breakfasts for me with a glass of milk.
I’ll have to admit I’m a little sketched out by the seaweed. Haha I like sushi though so I will probably like it. The only thing I haven’t tried yet. And now the best part, the corn salsa. So yummy I will be on the lookout for this if I ever make it to a TJ’s.
And now it’s time for some details about Foodie Penpals. In case you’re a new reader, here’s a reminder of what the program is all about:
-On the 5th of every month, you will receive your penpal pairing via email. It will be your responsibility to contact your penpal and get their mailing address and any other information you might need like allergies or dietary restrictions.
-You will have until the 15th of the month to put your box of goodies in the mail. On the last day of the month, you will post about the goodies you received from your penpal!
-The boxes are to be filled with fun foodie things, local food items or even homemade treats! The spending limit is $15. The box must also include something written. This can be anything from a note explaining what’s in the box, to a fun recipe…use your imagination!
-You are responsible for figuring out the best way to ship your items depending on their size and how fragile they are. (Don’t forget about flat rate boxes!)
-Foodie Penpals is open to blog readers as well as bloggers. If you’re a reader and you get paired with a blogger, you are to write a short guest post for your penpal to post on their blog about what you received. If two readers are paired together, neither needs to worry about writing a post for that month.
-Foodie Penplas is open to US & Canadian residents. Please note, Canadian Residents will be paired with other Canadians only. We’ve determined things might get too slow and backed up if we’re trying to send foods through customs across the border from US to Canada and vice versa.
If you’re interested in participating for June, please CLICK HEREto fill out the participation form and read the terms and conditions.
You must submit your information by June 4th as pairings will be emailed on June 5th!
*If you’re from somewhere besides the US, Canada or Europe and want to participate, send me an email and I’ll see if we get enough interest this month!

I am unfamiliar with Chia seeds…but that’s what I love about the Pen Pal Program. You find something new that broadens your horizons. What a fun Trader Joe’s package for you! (PS – Love all your dinner ideas!)
Chia seeds are high in antioxidants and omega 3s. According to the package also high in calcium and an Aztec superfood. I had been hearing a lot about them, but hadn’t gotten around to buying any yet. I just mixed them in with the granola I was making and it turned out great.
I’m not gonna lie, I would be a little skiddish about the seaweed. But Karen G. is right trying new food is what the whole program is about!
Yes it’s so fun to receive a bunch of stuff I have never tried and would probably never have bought.
I was scared of the seaweed too!!!! It was just something different that I saw and I still don’t know how I feel about it. I am so glad you love the corn salsa as much as me!
Hahaha I tried it, its interesting
But seriously I might be addicted to the corn salsa!
