This week’s #SundaySupper theme is Gifts from the Kitchen. Need ideas for friend or neighbor Christmas gifts? There are plenty of fun things you can make right in your kitchen. Check out the links below for more inspiration.
I was inspired to make Sweet and Spicy Pecans after receiving a bag of Trader Joe’s Sweet and Spicy Pecans from my October Foodie Pen pal. I searched high and low for a copy cat recipe with no luck. Those things are like crack, so addicting. And while these are more like candied pecans than the Trader Joe’s version and not quite as spicy they are still a delicious snack.
These slightly sweet, slightly spicy pecans make a great grab and go snack, are terrific for setting out to munch on at a party, or my favorite is to add them to salads. All of your pecan loving friends will thank you for these treats.
- 3 tablespoons light corn syrup
- 1 ½ tablespoons sugar
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1 ½ cups pecan halves
- Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a small bowl combine corn syrup, sugar, salt, pepper, and cayenne pepper.
- Add pecans and stir to coat.
- Transfer to baking sheet and bake for 5 minutes. Stir after 5 minutes and continue baking an additional 10 minutes.
- Separate the nuts after removing from oven before allowing to cool completely.
- Store in an airtight container for 1 week.

I love sweet and spicy together with the pecans. A great gift to receive.
I would love a jar of these as a gift! They are so incredibly good and addictive. And they have so many uses now that the sweet and spicy has taken over baked goods. Wonderful recipe!

Yum. Nothing says the holiday with spiced pecans-these looks delish!
I have never had spiced nuts before but I love pecans! I am from Oklahoma and a lot of pecans are grown there. My parents used to have a pecan tree and we would collect the nuts every year when we visited.
You had me at pecans!
I love sweet/spiced nuts…especially for having on hand for parties. I’m not sure I’ve ever done pecans (or tried the Trader Joes ones). Will have to try!
Beautiful gift and beautiful photography… I need lessons!
These are so amazing. I love pecans. It’s one of the things I cannot stop eating once I start. Even when baking I always have to take out twice the amount that I need cuz I’ll eat so many.
Yeah I hate when you can’t find something you really want but the great thing is…you’ve made something so wonderful that you can share as a gift! I bet they taste super!
If my mom was still with us, I would make these for her. Pecans were hands down her favorite nut. She would LOVE this recipe. Unfortunately I’m allergic to nuts
. Your photo is just stunning too!!
I often make a batch of these any way because I love to use them in different dishes. I think it is a brilliant idea to make a larger batch and give them as gifts.
Oh this is totally my kind of recipe
Love sweet and spicy nuts anyday
sweet and spicy pecans are way too dangerous. I can put down a whole sack of em in one sitting. Too good to stop eating.
I would love to have a container of these sweet and spicy pecans, perfect when you are relaxing in front of the TV and I guess I will finish all before the program ends:-) Thanks for sharing!
I love sweet and spicy. I bet these taste great!
Been experimenting all month trying to find the right replica of those TJs pecans. These have a great snappy texture but I would back down the black pepper. Still searching for the perfect recipe…..
